After The Inspiration: Kid Friendly Room
Tiffani's Corner: After The Inspiration
Remember back in June when I shared my inspiration piece for a kid's play room that was also adult friendly? Well we've finally put the finishing touches on the room and I wanted to show you how my inspiration piece came to life in this space!

Here's a glimpse at how I took my favorite parts of
In place of the curvy stools used as a coffee table, I scored these two child sized stools and paired them with a beat up table which I found at thrift store. I love that the table legs mimick the curves of
I also loved the assortment of throw pillows on the couch. Unfortunately, throw pillows weren't in the budget for this room makeover so I created my own for less out of some fabric and batting that I had leftover from other sewing projects. An assortment of thrift store frames show off my girl's artwork and overall the space feels comfortable for both my husband and I and our kids. Here's a quick look at the before photo of the room as welll as a breakdown of the cost to complete this makeover!

Since we shopped sales and re-purposed a lot of things we already owned, we came in at just under $500 for this room makeover. Here's how it broke down:
Rug: $39.99 (IKEA)
Couch: $398.99 on sale from $1,200 (Pottery Barn Outlet)
Blue Frame Mats: $5 (Pottery Barn Kids)
Clock: $2.99 (IKEA)
Lampshade: $14.99 (
Table: $10 (Thrift Store)
Lamp: $18 (Thrift Store)
Frames: $3 (Goodwill)
Stools: 50 cents each (Thrift Store)
Birds: 25 cents (WalMart)
Already Owned: Night stand, books, paint, leftover fabric and batting for pillows)
Total: $494.21 - Not bad when you consider that the couch alone took up all but $100 of that budget!
