Mother's Day Gift Idea: Flower Pot Soaps

Supplies

  • glycerin soap (I found mine at Michaels)
  • food coloring (you could also add in some essential oils for a lovely fragrance)
  • chocolate mold
  • lollipop sticks (get the long ones)
  • cup, spoon, knife & cutting board

Directions

  1. Cut the glycerin into chunks. It doesn't take very much glycerin to fill a chocolate mold.
  2. Put it in the cup and then microwave for a few seconds. I put mine in for about 25 seconds, or until it has melted completely.
  3. Take out stir, and add in any desired coloring and fragrances.
  4. Quickly pour glycerin into mold. Put the stick in the mold and make sure you pour a bit of soap over the back of the stick.
  5. Repeat for the next color. (If you're using just one color you could melt all of the glycerin at the same time, but if you're using different colors it might start to set before you can get it poured into the molds.)
  6. Let the soap set until it's very hard, and then pop it out of the molds. I put a bit of floral foam in the bottom of my pail (you could use a jar or flowerpot that you have laying around) and then I put some of my leftover Easter grass on top of the foam. Then just put your flowers in and you're done!

As a tip- use soap coloring rather than food coloring or you will be dying your entire body as you use the finished soap!
